Radicchio   di Chioggia , belonging  to the group of   chicory,   is   also famous   nationally   for   its properties and   for its   good taste.   The   radish   is a plant with   leaf blades   rounded,   closely   imbricated   with each other   forming   a heart   shape   spherical , which  refers precisely   the rose :  from here " of Chioggia."  The leaves have   a   more or less intense   red color   with   white   central veins .  The variety of   Chioggia   was selected   in the '30s   from the intersection   of   radicchio   and endive .  Specifically , the rose  of Chioggia   has   diuretic and digestive properties .
The crops for the   production   of   the two types   Radicchio di Chioggia   "early"   and   "late" ,  must consist of   plants   of the Asteraceae family   -   usually   Cichorium .
The cultivation may be with convetional method respecting the Disciplinary of "Produzione di Lotta Integrata "  and   organically method .
